How to Search Adair County Court Records on OSCN

OSCN is the official site for district court records.

Adair County posts to OSCN, so this is your first stop.

Steps:

  1. Go to OSCN.net.
  2. Pick Adair from the county list.
  3. Choose your search type: Case Number, Party Name, or Citation Number.
  4. Type your search and tap GO.

Case number is the fastest way.

If you have it, use it.

Party name is the flexible way.

Type the last name first. Then add the first name to narrow it down.

If nothing shows, try a different spelling.

The search does not handle typos well. One wrong letter can hide a whole case.

A few small eastern Oklahoma counties post to a sister site called ODCR (odcr.com) instead.

Adair County is on OSCN. But if a case ever fails to show up, ODCR is worth a second look.

Three OSCN search methods for Adair County: case number, party name, citation number

What Case Types You Will Find

Adair County District Court handles the usual range of cases.

Each one has a code:

CodeCase type
CFCriminal, felony
CMCriminal, misdemeanor
CJCivil, general
SCSmall claims
TRTraffic
FDFamily and divorce
PBProbate, wills, estates
POProtective order
JVJuvenile (restricted)

Divorce cases use the FD code.

You can search by either spouse’s name.

Felony and misdemeanor cases show charges, hearings, pleas, and sentences.

But OSCN only shows the court side. It is not an arrest list.

Adair County Warrants, Arrests and Inmate Search

People often mix these up.

OSCN does not list warrants, arrests, mugshots, or who is in the county jail.

It shows court cases.

A pending criminal case may sometimes show an active warrant. But it is not a warrant database.

For those records:

  • Warrants: contact the Adair County Sheriff’s Office. If you think a warrant may be yours, talk to a defense lawyer before you walk into any office. Our Oklahoma warrant search guide explains the safe way to check.
  • Jail roster and inmate search: the county sheriff keeps the local jail data. The Oklahoma Department of Corrections keeps state inmate data.
  • Arrest records: ask the arresting agency or the sheriff.

Court records and jail records come from separate systems. OSCN covers the court case. The sheriff’s office covers custody, booking, and the jail roster.

How to Get Certified Copies

The PDFs you download from OSCN are not official.

Banks, employers, immigration offices, and other courts usually want a certified copy.

Those only come from the Court Clerk.

  1. Find the case on OSCN. Write down the case number and the document name.
  2. Call the Adair County Court Clerk at (918) 696-7633.
  3. Ask for the copy, in person or by mail.
  4. Pay the fee. It is usually about $1 per page, plus a few dollars per document for the certified stamp. Fees can change.
  5. Get it by mail or pick it up.

It usually takes a few days to two weeks.

How to Pay Court Fines

Some Oklahoma counties take online payments through OSCN. Others do not.

Open the case docket and look for a Pay link.

No link? Call the Court Clerk to ask about online payment.

You can also pay in person, by mail, or by phone.

You can also try the state OSCN e-payments page to see if your case is set up for online payment.

Online payments can take 24 to 72 hours to show on the docket.

If yours does not show after three business days, call the clerk with your confirmation number.

The 15th Judicial District

Adair County shares its district with four neighbors: Cherokee, Muskogee, Sequoyah, and Wagoner counties.

Judges in the district move between these counties.

So a name you see on an Adair case may also sit in Tahlequah or Muskogee.

The associate district judge based in Stilwell handles a large part of the local docket.

This includes child welfare cases that work with the Cherokee Nation.

The Courthouse Restoration

Visited the Adair County Courthouse lately and it looked different?

The 1930 building recently went through a full restoration that ran from 2021 into 2023.

It was not smooth.

Offices moved out of the building in late 2021.

Frozen pipes caused a water leak in early 2022, while the new windows were going in.

Asbestos turned up that spring and had to be removed.

Elevator parts sat on back order for almost a year.

The project used an $8 million loan.

It was paid for by a quarter cent sales tax that voters passed in April 2021.

Federal relief money covered the new elevator.

Offices started moving back in by the middle of 2023.

The county then held a public open house.

It was timed with the 125th anniversary of the building’s cornerstone.

The work people do not see, like the wiring, plumbing, data lines, and asbestos removal, was the biggest part of it.

The building is now saved and back in full use.

Common Problems and Fixes

“No cases found.”

Try a partial name, a different spelling, or check the county.

If the case really exists and still does not show, it may be sealed, expunged, or in city court.

The case shows but no documents are attached.

This is normal.

Many entries are just docket text with no PDF uploaded.

Call the clerk for a copy of the filing you want.

A new filing is not there yet.

OSCN updates as the clerk processes paperwork, usually within 24 to 72 hours.

Give it a few days.

A city ticket is not on OSCN.

City police tickets go to the city court, not the district court.

Contact the city court directly.

Nearby and Related Records

Adair County borders Delaware County to the north, Cherokee County to the west, and Sequoyah County to the south.

It also borders Benton, Washington, and Crawford counties across the Arkansas line.

If a case is not in Adair, a neighboring county is the next place to check.

People, property, and disputes often cross county lines out here.

For land and property records like deeds, liens, and mortgages, use the County Clerk, not the Court Clerk.
